The Last Trip
I flew my final rotation on May 12th. After nearly eight years as a Spirit flight attendant, I boarded for the last time out of Fort Lauderdale and didn’t look back. What I didn’t expect was to still be waiting six weeks later.
No final paycheck. No PTO payout. No confirmation that the owed hours were even on record.
What Happened After the Flight
The first two weeks were silence. When I finally reached someone in payroll, I was told the system was “transitioning” and to wait another cycle. That cycle came and went.
By week four, the emails stopped being answered altogether.
I’m not alone in this. I’ve heard the same story from crew members I flew with for years — final paychecks missing, PTO balances zeroed out, no explanation from the company.
What You Can Do
If this is your situation, document everything now:
- Screenshot every pay stub you have access to
- Write down your final scheduled hours and known PTO balance
- Save any email correspondence with HR or payroll
- Note the date your employment officially ended
Then file your wage claim. The bankruptcy process has a claims window — and every documented claim strengthens the record.
You earned this. Don’t let them keep it.
